Riding guide

Is there a Strava for motorcycles?

Strava has no motorcycle activity type, and motorcycle rides are excluded from its segment leaderboards. If you ride a motorcycle, Strava will not give you what it gives cyclists — a record of every ride that adds up over a season.

Roveri is the app that gives riders that record. Tap Start, put the phone in your pocket and ride; afterwards the ride is waiting, with its route painted by speed or climb, your moving time, top speed and total climb, the weather you rode through, and every record it set.

What Strava’s rules actually say

Strava’s Supported Sport Types page lists foot sports, cycle sports, water sports, and winter sports — and no motorcycle among them. Its Segment Leaderboard Guidelines are more direct: “Please note that motorcycle activities are not allowed on Strava, and cannot use the Ride or E-Bike activity types.” So a motorcycle ride logged under the bicycle Ride type is excluded from the segment leaderboards those types feed — and your motorcycle speeds would read oddly among cycling data anyway.

Why riders keep asking anyway

Motorcyclists want what Strava gives cyclists — a running record of every ride, mile, and climb over a season. Adding a motorcycle activity type is a standing request in Strava’s own Community Hub, up-voted by riders for years. As of July 2026 it has not shipped.

EVERY RIDE, REMEMBERED

Every ride adds up over a season.

If what you miss from Strava is the record, this is it. Every ride is saved with its painted map, distance, moving time, top speed, and total climb — and the rides add up to your season: the records you set, the roads you rode, and the weather you rode through. Roveri asks nothing of you while you ride; the stats are there when you stop.

  • Distance, moving time, top speed, total climb per ride
  • Records as they happen: longest ride by distance and by time, biggest climb, first night ride, each distance total you pass
  • A monthly Rewind of the roads you rode — and any ride re-opened in one tap

RELIVE EVERY RIDE

Painted, and read back.

It records the GPS route, live speed, and elevation of each ride, and adds up to eight weather samples along the route when you end it. Open any ride and trace it painted by speed or by the elevation you climbed. Paused time is left out of the moving total, and a pause draws no straight line across the map — the track is segmented, so a stop reads as a stop.

What to use instead

Strava is a record of what you did. Most motorcycle apps are navigators that also record. If what you miss is the record — not routes to follow — Roveri is the one built for it.

  • Roveri

A riding journal, and the closest thing to Strava for a motorcycle ride. You ride with the phone in your pocket; it records the route, speed, elevation, and weather of each ride, and keeps every one with its records. It does not plan routes or navigate.

    What Roveri is
  • REVER

A community-focused motorcycle route app. It plans routes, navigates with turn-by-turn voice guidance, and lets you share rides with other riders — the pick if the people you ride with are already there.

  • Calimoto

A route planner built around finding the twisty roads, with turn-by-turn navigation, on both iOS and Android — for the days you want to be guided.

Strava’s other much-missed surface — the heatmap — has a motorcycle answer too: the Coverage Atlas in Roveri — part of Roveri Pro — draws every road you have ridden as squares that deepen with every repeat pass. See Is there a ride heatmap for motorcycles?

Common questions

Can you use Strava for motorcycle rides?

No. Strava has no motorcycle activity type, and motorcycle rides are excluded from its segment leaderboards. Recording one means mislabelling it as another sport, which distorts both your own statistics and other riders’ leaderboards.

What is the Strava equivalent for motorcycles?

If what you want from Strava is the record of every ride and the stats it adds up to, Roveri is that app: it records each ride’s route, speed, elevation and weather, and keeps your records over the season. Route planners and navigators such as REVER and Calimoto do a different job — they tell you where to turn.

So if you came looking for a Strava for your motorcycle, Roveri is it: you ride, it keeps the ride and the stats. Recording, your full history and each ride’s map and stats are free; Roveri Pro adds the Coverage Atlas, an elevation profile, the climate along your route and GPX export. Roveri runs on iPhone (iOS 18.6 or later) and does not navigate, by design. Read the full, code-verified fact sheet on the Roveri press page, or get Roveri on the App Store.
