Calimoto vs REVER

Calimoto is for being guided to twisty roads. REVER is for riding with other people. Both are navigators that also record a ride, both run on iPhone and Android, and both keep turn-by-turn voice directions in their paid tier: calimoto Premium and REVER PRO.

The bigger difference is what each app gives you for free. REVER records rides and carries its whole community on the free tier. Calimoto’s free tier is a trip planner, and recording sits in Premium. And if you mostly ride roads you already know, there is a third answer: you may not need a navigator at all.

Calimoto facts come from its App Store listing and its own Basic-versus-Premium table; REVER’s from rever.co/pro, REVER’s FAQ and its App Store listing, all checked on 21 October 2026. Both apps’ home pages: calimoto.com and rever.co. We make Roveri, which appears further down.

Calimoto: when the road is the point

Calimoto calls itself “the ultimate motorcycle navigation” and is built around twisty roads: you plan the curviest route on the phone or on the website, then it talks you along it with voice directions. Its tracker analyses lean angle and acceleration after every trip.

Calimoto’s own comparison table puts most of that in Premium: turn-by-turn, offline maps, Group Rides, speed-camera alerts, GPX export and recording a ride. The free tier plans a trip and imports a GPX file. Pick Calimoto if what you want from an app is a better road than the one you would have found yourself.

REVER: when you ride with other people

REVER describes itself as “the world’s largest GPS app and community for motorcycle, snowmobile, and off-road enthusiasts”. The community is the free part: communities you can create and join, challenges, friends on a live map, and thousands of shared routes. Its free tier also records rides, with distance, duration, elevation and speed.

REVER PRO adds turn-by-turn directions, twisty routing, the ADV planner, offline maps, weather alerts, live location sharing and GPX export. Pick REVER if your riding is social, or if you want to record rides without paying for a navigator.

How to choose between them

  • You want twisty roads found for you, and lean-angle data afterwards: Calimoto, on Premium.
  • You ride with a group, or want free ride recording: REVER.
  • You need turn-by-turn either way: both charge for it, so choose on the rest of the list above.
  • You mostly ride roads you know: you may not need either. Read on.

OR NEITHER

Know your roads? Just ride.

A navigator wants your eyes on the screen. Plenty of riders don't need one on the roads they ride every weekend, and what they lose instead is the ride itself: a month later, Sunday's loop is a blur. Roveri is built for that. Tap Start, put the phone in your pocket, and when you stop the ride is waiting: the route painted by speed or by climb, moving time with the stops left out, top speed, total climb, and up to eight weather readings taken along the way. Recording, your full history and each ride's map and stats are free.

  • Pause and resume from the Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island, without unlocking
  • Records and milestones: longest ride by distance and by time, biggest climb, first night ride, distance totals
  • A monthly Rewind of the roads you rode, and with Roveri Pro the Coverage Atlas of every road you have ridden

On the days you do need directions, use Calimoto or REVER to get there and let Roveri keep the ride. Roveri doesn’t plan routes or give directions, by design, and it runs on iPhone only (iOS 18.6 or later). Already have rides in another app? A GPX file opens in Roveri for free.

Common questions

Is Calimoto or REVER better?

They are built for different riders. Calimoto is better at finding and guiding you along twisty roads, and analyses lean angle and acceleration afterwards. REVER is better for riding with other people, with communities, challenges and friends on a live map on its free tier.

Which records rides for free, Calimoto or REVER?

REVER. Its free tier tracks rides with distance, duration, elevation and speed. Calimoto’s own Basic-versus-Premium table lists ride recording under Premium. Roveri also records rides on its free tier, with the route painted by speed or climb and the weather along the way.

Do Calimoto and REVER have free turn-by-turn navigation?

No. Both list turn-by-turn voice directions in their paid tier: calimoto Premium and REVER PRO. REVER’s free tier lets you follow a route line on the map instead.

Can you move rides between Calimoto and REVER?

Through a GPX file. Both import GPX on their free tier, and both put GPX export in the paid tier. Roveri opens a GPX file for free too, so a ride exported from either can sit beside the rides you record in Roveri.

Roveri runs on iPhone (iOS 18.6 or later) and is free to download, with an optional Pro tier. Read the code-verified fact sheet on the Roveri press page, or get Roveri on the App Store.
